The ecologically pure organic fertilizer

The ecologically pure organic fertilizer SAPROPEL, or fresh water pool silt, is "modern" geological deposits originating from water plants and residues of animal origin in combination with fragments of higher plant tissue, pollen, sand, clay and various mineral solutions brought from land.

SAPROPEL consists of mineral and organic parts. The mineral part originated from water solutions due to formation of sediments consisting of fragments of ash food of biomass, clay, sand, etc. The organic part resulted from anaerobic biochemical decomposition of biomass and its subsequent re-synthesis by microorganisms.

According to the classification, SAPROPELs are divided into types, classes and sorts. Their composition, physical and chemical characteristics determine their practical application. Different kinds of SAPROPEL are used in agriculture, chemical and medical industries.

At the moment, the firm has licenses and extracts SAPROPEL of biogenic type (more than 70% of organic substance) out of two lakes located in the eastern part of Latvia. The adjacent territories are free from any sources of negative ecological effect, which proves the ecological purity of SAPROPEL in the given region. The total deposit reserves, as estimated by the results of a detailed investigation conducted by the GEO-Konsultants firm, amount to 630.94 thousand m? or 71.92 thousand tons (at 60% humidity). The characteristics of this particular SAPROPEL make it usable in agriculture as a fertilizer both in pure form and in various mixtures - substrates, composts.

Analyses of general technical parameters of this kind of SAPROPEL were conducted by a Latvian laboratory; the purity of the SAPROPEL was confirmed by the analysis of microelement composition conducted by Canadian experts from ACME ANALYTICAL LABORATORIES LTD. (ISO 9002 Accredited Co.), Canada.

In 2000 the Latvian State Geological Department (VGD) and the Baltic Land Resources (Baltijas Zemes Resursi) completed a research project on investigating Latvia's lakes with the aim of finding SAPROPEL deposits. The total SAPROPEL deposit reserves in Latvia amount to approx. 12 million tons (60% humidity).
